Meet The Team
Allison Paquette loves teaching first grade! It is a magical time of mathematical and scientific discoveries, and best of all, it's when most children learn to read, opening up the world in a whole new way. First grade will be enjoying time in the woods every week building relationships and gaining knowledge about nature. We are buddies with the 6th grade class and enjoy visits from other grades, too.
Allison holds a Master's degree in Elementary and Special Education from Antioch University New England and believes in connecting students to each other and the world around them through their learning. Allison has been working in Brattleboro schools since 2011.
Galen Kemp has been teaching second grade at Oak Grove School since 2016. Prior to accepting this position, she worked as a paraeducator and has been supporting students at Oak Grove since 2008.
Galen was born and raised in Jackson, NH in the heart of the White Mountains, and lived on the central coast of California in San Luis Obispo for several years after college where she met her husband. They moved to East Dover in Southern Vermont 23 years ago, and have a daughter, 24, who graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2019 with a degree in Marine Biology.
Galen earned her Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degrees in Marketing/Business Management and English from Champlain College and Saint Lawrence University respectively. After two decades of working in marketing, sales, and human resources she returned to school to pursue a career in education. She graduated from The Upper Valley Educators Institute in Lebanon, NH in 2007.
Galen has a passion for reading and science, and for including games, movement, mindfulness, team-building, and outdoor learning activities in her classroom. She enjoys using technology to enhance the learning of her students and cultivating their sense of responsibility and self-awareness.
Outside of school, Galen is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys playing golf and riding her mountain bike in the summer and she also coaches young ski racing athletes at Mount Snow during the winter months.
