General Music, Band, and Chorus:
This is my sixth year of teaching, my fifth year of teaching music, and my second year at Oak Grove. Last year, I moved across the country from Washington State, where I taught Junior High English, Junior High Choir, Elementary Music, and Band. This summer I got married and changed my name from Ms. Billings to Mrs. Karter!
I cram a lot of music into my three days at Oak Grove. I teach band and chorus to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders and recorder to 3rd graders, I lead the school in a weekly All School Sing, and I teach general music to every grade from pre-k through 6th graders. I feel very lucky to be at a school that values music so highly.
This year, along with teaching at Oak Grove, I will teach music at Harrisville Wells Memorial School and the John D Perkins Academy of Marlow. I have sung in the Seattle and Tacoma Symphony Chorales, and currently play trumpet in the Monadnock New Horizons Band. I can play the guitar, trumpet, clarinet, flute, saxophone, trombone, euphonium, drums, xylophone, recorder, autoharp, and melodica, but my favorite instruments to play are piano and ukulele.
