4th Grade: Erek Tuma
Hello, my name is Erek Tuma and I have been teaching 4th grade at Oak Grove for ten years.
I was drawn to teaching while serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Kingdom of Tonga in the early 2000’s.
I received my teaching certification at Keene State and completed a masters degree in k-8 mathematics at the University of Vermont.
Being a part of the Oak Grove School community as a staff member and parent of Oak Grove students has been a wonderful experience.
When not at Oak Grove, I enjoy being outdoors, playing disc golf and spending time with my family.
5th Grade: Karen Dilorio-Bowen
This is my 22nd year of teaching and learning with the many wonderful, caring, hard working and talented young people and staff members at Oak Grove School.
Particularly special, my two granddaughters attend Oak Grove! I was born and raised in the New York, New Jersey metropolitan area. I dreamed of a cabin nestled among mountains, wood smoke rising from its chimney. I realized this dream in 1978 when my husband and I moved our young family to Vermont in awe of its beautiful mountains, fresh air, deep green foliage, and magical waterfalls!
I live in Putney and enjoy gardening and biking, music and reading, and spending time with family & friends! I am grateful to share the joy of discovery with our fabulous learning community and look forward to another adventurous year at Oak Grove School!
6th Grade: Will Lapinski
My name is Will Lapinski. I moved to Brattleboro in the fall of 2012. Originally from Detroit, MI, I grew up in a small town in Northern, NY. I graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2007 with a B.A. in history and played four years of lacrosse.
After taking a year off to surf and ski, I went back to school and got an M.Ed. in elementary education, while working as an assistant women's’ lacrosse coach.
My first teaching job was as a special education teacher in Brownington, VT. After one year there I wanted to become a classroom teacher, and ended up getting a job in Brattleboro.
I have had a great experience at Oak Grove and being a part of the Brattleboro community. I spend a lot of my free time in the area skiing, camping, cooking, and watching movies. I am also an assistant boys’ lacrosse coach at BUHS, and announce boys’ and girls’ varsity hockey on the radio for 99.5 The Beast.
