Hear how our teachers assess our students, and how they are doing in school, right now.  There are many forms of feedback that help our teachers know if their pupils are learning the material presented, specific testing done several times a year, and annual exams which allow us to compare ourselves with other schools in our supervisory union, around the state and even nationally.

Tech at Home!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I know how much kids love their screentime. We have tons of great technology at Oak Grove School that can be used at home that is both fun and educational.

BrainPOP creates animated, curriculum-based content that supports educators and engages students. Hundreds of topics within Science, Social Studies, English, Math, Technology, Arts & Music and Health are all brought to life through short, animated movies and related interactive quizzes and features. BrainPOP EspaƱol provides BrainPOP content in Spanish. All content is aligned to and searchable by state and Common Core standards.
BrainPOP Jr. provides educational movies for K-3 learners and addresses a wide range of grade-appropriate topics. Each animated topic has a movie, leveled quizzes, games, activities, and lesson ideas that develop critical thinking and inquiry skills. All content is read aloud so young students can browse the site on their own. Learning.com has step-by-step online tutorials that covers internet safety, how to use a mouse, keyboarding, and more! Each class is set up with a username and password that leads them to curriculum that is backed by ISTE’s National Technology Standards. While we will be going over a lot of this in library, your children can never have too much exposure to internet safety and keyboarding!
Typingclub.com
is a fantastic free typing website that students can sign in with their google accounts.
Additionally, the library website, oglib.weebly.com has more great websites that students have access to. This website will be updated as the year goes on as Greg Montgomery, OG’s Technology Integrationist, and I find new and interesting websites.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at loliver@wsesu.org. Sincerely, Lexi Oliver Oak Grove Library/Technology/Enrichment loliver@wsesu.org

Outdoor Movie Night

Hello Oak Grove Community!

By now you've probably heard that Oak Grove PTO is planning an Outdoor Movie Night this Friday, right here on our playground!  This is PTO's biggest fundraiser of the year and helps to fund classroom field trips and our Winter Sports Program.  For that reason, we are charging $5.00 per person for the event (with a maximum of $20.00 per family).

We try to sponsor many fun, free events throughout the year (i.e., the school dance, indoor movie night, etc.) and, although we are charging for this event, we hope you will still attend. PTO fundraisers help to keep the burden of fundraising off from our classroom teachers and our families.  They replace the need for children to go door-to-door selling products, as well.

We hope you will find that the $5.00 fee is well worth the fun your family will have at this event.  Included in the price of admission is face painting, field games, bowling, the movie and more!  There will also be concessions on sale (hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, etc.), so come hungry!

The fun starts at 6:00pm and the movie will begin at 7:45pm. Check out the big screen below that we have purchased for this event!  Kids who come in a team jersey will get a prize at the door.*  Please come and help support our Winter Sports program and field trips.  It is sure to be a fun, relaxing night for all!

Thank you,
Oak Grove PTO

*Jerseys can be from any team sport

Baked Goods Needed!!

We are in need of baked goods for our Spring Dance on Friday, April 8th.  Please note that the sale of these helps to pay for the items purchased for the dance including the DJ and prizes.  All baked goods need to be nut and seed free.  You can drop them off in the office on Friday anytime throughout the day.

Thanks in advance for your help.
