New leap story

Below is the first paragraph of an exciting new story written by 6th grader May Yost. If you want to read the rest go to the Library page and click on LEAP writing on the right hand menu bar. Other stories previously posted will show up beneath that story.

Lost memories you don’t want to remember
May Yost gr. 6

WHY ARE YOU, NOOO DON’T DO THIS TO ME,” Zowa screams as she runs up to her brother. But it was too late. Jonah had already jumped. Zowa looked over the edge to see her brother. His eyes were closed. She couldn’t tell if he was alive or dead. Zowa ran down to him.

Grovie Celebration

Last Friday we had a special end of the day celebration with our entire school.  This was our first school wide Grovie celebration.  Our school community all gathered to watch a Dr. Seuss movie and eat popcorn in our gym.  Special thanks needs to go out to our FROGS group who purchased the new popcorn machine for us.  It will get lots of use!

In the short 6 or so months since we started our Grovie program, our students have received over 20,000 Grovies.  This means that at least 20,000 kind, respectful and responsible acts have been recognized in the actions of our students, and these are just the acts that were recognized!  We have a wonderful group of students at Oak Grove and we were glad to celebrate with them.
